A brief history of A, AW, B, CH - Royal Thuamzapau Hangzo

A brief history of A, AW, B, CH
By Royal Thuamzapau Hangzo

Paite Language :
Spoken by some 50,000 people is listed by UNESCO as vulnerable to extinction . Alphabets of the Paite was first propounded by Pu T. Vialphung in 1903. But it was not circulated nor came in to use.

The Paite speaking people in the past never recognized nor used the nomenclature of Paite among themselves. Reference was always made according to the villages and the dialects used therein like the Tedim, Lousau, Bukpi, Dapzar, Ngennung, Vaalpau, Tuichiap, Lamzang, etc. In fact, Rev. D. Jones authored a Paite primer around the year 1910, that is almost the same time he brought out a Lushai primer, ‘Zirtir Bu’. Since the term Paite was not recognized or popularly used at that time by the Paite people in Guite area of Manipur, the book was withdrawn and it never saw the light of the day .

There was hardly any book to read in Paite language. Bible, Hymnals, and any book available were books written in Lushai or Duhlian language. During that time there was a primer, “Tedim Primer in Kamhau Dialect”, prepared by Rev. Joshep Herbert Cope in about the year 1910. But this primer was just a translation of English in to Paite, viz., “ I ate with spoon” as “Sikkeu tawh ka ne” and, “Red Sea” as “San Tuipi” .

INSCRIPTION ON THE STONE AT TRIBAL MYRTARS MEMORIAL PARK | LAMKA

INSCRIPTION ON THE STONE:
“MAY OUR LAST WALK BE YOUR FIRST STEP”

AT NO POINT IN HISTORY HAVE THE ANCESTRAL TERRITORIES OF THE INDIGENOUS ZO (CHIN-KUKI-ZOMI/MIZO) AND NAGA ETHNIC TRIBES OF PRESENT-DAY MANIPUR BEEN A PART OF THE ERSTWHILE MANIPURI KINGDOM. RATHER, THE ZO AND NAGA TRIBES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SOVEREIGN, AUTONOMOUS AND SELF-GOVERNING UNTIL THE BRITISH IMPERIALISTS AMALGAMATED THE VALLEY KINGDOM WITH THE SURROUNDING ZO AND NAGA TERRITORIES FOR PURELY ADMINISTRATIVE CONVENIENCE AND WITHOUT ANY HISTORICAL JUSTIFICATION. UNDER BRITISH INDIA, WHILE THE MANIPURI MONARCH CONTINUED TO RULE OVER HIS SUBJECTS IN THE VALLEY, THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ADMINISTERING THE TRIBES IN THE SURROUNDING HILLS, AS MAY BE NECESSARY, RESTED WITH THE BRITISH POLITICAL AGENT.

An open letter to IAS wannabes By Ranjan Yumnam

An open letter to IAS wannabes
By Ranjan Yumnam

In Delhi where I live, I constantly bump into numerous people who dream of becoming an IAS officer. Of these, there are really serious contenders for the top job and then there is also a larger group of IAS wannabes who simply lulled their parents into great expectations without having any slim chance of succeeding in India's toughest public examination. And to this latter group, that this letter is being addressed.

Every time I see people from the latter lot, I feel guilty as a concerned Manipuri for not being able to stop them in the tracks of their futile exercise. On closer examination, many of them turn out to be academic underachievers who in their frustration choose to take a chance in the Civil Services as the last resort.

To me, it is a weird paradox that these academically-challenged people would even think of stepping into where angels fear to tread. It is nothing less than a willful adventurism at the expense of precious time and other realistic opportunities in other vocations and career avenues.

The profile of a typical IAS aspirant in Delhi can be made out fairly accurately. Most probably, he would be an average graduate. Chances are that if you look at his mark sheet, you will see blood all over it-the kind of mark sheet that no university would accept for enrolment in its Master's program. So, one fine morning, our dreamer wakes up to realize that his salvation lies in clearing the IAS examinations and proving all detractors wrong. The results almost always tell a different story.

Faculty Government Jobs in Universities and Institutes

Faculty Government Jobs in Universities and Institutes
Reporter: SarkariNaukriBlog com
Published: 02 March, 2018

There is a major shortfall in faculty in the leading Indian Universities and Institutes. Situation is so grim that Government has to increase the retirement age to 65 years for central universities. Faculty posts are lying vacant in all universities / institutes. This is majorly because of student not taking admissions in Research (Ph.D.) programme and not interested in  teaching jobs.  Candidates prefers going in for industry jobs.

Therefore, those who are interested in teaching faculty jobs, there are a lot of vacancies exist and being advertised by the Universities and Institutes in Government sector. Because of shortage of the faculty, sometimes universities/institutes relax some qualification criteria and  hire candidates on contract basis also. Normally candidates need to clear the National Eligibility Examination (NET) and should have Ph.D. qualification for any government University and Institutes.

Posts and Pay Scales
There are only three designations in respect of faculty teachers in universities, colleges and institutes namely Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors only. The pay scale for these faculty posts is as follows after implementation of 7th CPC pay matrix.
