tephen had lived an amazing and productive life even though it was rather short. He was a great person; the kind of person that stands by you when you need somebody to be there. Ever smiling. Ever ready to help people in need. A man of his words. And a man of deeds. And that’s why God wanted him to be with Him.
The eldest among the three sons of Pu Thianzakham and Pi Ngemkhozam, Mr. Stephen T Songchinmuan first saw the light of day on the 14th of August, 1982. He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Robert Lianmawlsawm and James T.Pauthianmuang.
He did his schooling from Lalpuithluai Foundation School, Bungmual, Lamka; Savio English School, Imphal; St. Giri Public School and Hope Hall Foundation School in New Delhi. He then went on to complete his Diploma in Engineering (Electronics & Telecommunications) from Guru Gobind Polytechnic. He bagged an offer from Live Media through campus placement and started his professional career there. Since then, he had worked in several magazines like PC Quest, Indian PC Magazine and MyMobile. He worked as sub-editor/correspondent in MyMobile till he breathed his last.
A God-fearing and religious person, he got baptized in the hands of Pastor Kawlkhum in January, 1994 at EBCC, Lamphelpat, Imphal. He has been actively engaged in church activities as a choir member and from 2004 as an Executive Member of Baptist Youth Fellowship, Evangelical Baptist Convention Church, Delhi. He has been entrusted with the responsibility of being the Assistant Secretary, BYE, EBCC Delhi in the year 2010.
He has also been the Vice-President of Siamsinpawlpi (Paite Students’ Welfare Association), Joint Headquarters Delhi and actively engaged in its various actitvities. In fact, he was entrusted with the responsibility of being the Assistant Editor (Layout and Design) for the SSPP JHQ Delhi’s upcoming magazine project “Tongzam”. Sadly, he left us for his heavenly abode before the completion of this project. His untimely demise has left a deep void in the organization which can never be filled in the times to come.
As an administrator of zogamonline.com, a Zomi news and social networking portal, he has contributed a great deal for his people through the management of this web portal. He was a techie and well-versed in computers, mobile technology and had helped many people in their computer and technology related problems. A very creative person, he was involved in painting and poster making for school functions during his schooling days in Delhi too.
As he suffered severe pain in the stomach he was rushed to RML Hospital on the 13th September, 2010 but the indifferent doctors there refused to admit him and he was sent back. His conditions did not improve and he was again rushed to Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi on the 15th September, 2010 where he was diagnosed with perforated peritonitis septicemia (infection). He was operated upon the 16th September, 2010 and was confined to the ICU of that hospital where he breathed his last on the fateful day of the 26th September, 2010.
An affable, lively, good and fun loving person, he is loved by all and sundry. His death is a great loss not only for the Paite community in Delhi, but for all the Zo people the world over. The news of his untimely demise spread like wildfire through telephone, mobile, internet social networking sites like zogam.com, zogamonline.com, ssppnet, facebook and orkut, etc. Condolence messages have poured in from all four corners of the world and from people from all walks of life.
To mourn this great loss, the SSPP General Headquarters, Lamka, Manipur will fly the SSPP Flag at half mast in its office at SSPP Complex, Bungmual. Among others, the SSPP Headquarters, Aizawl; SSPP Imphal Block; Khalvontawi (Thangkhal Students), Delhi; Gangte Welfare Association (Youth Wing), Delhi; UK Zomi, etc have expressed their deepest condolences.
